Listed Building Consent is sought for the careful dismantling and removal of a later, non-historic rood screen and its associated modern fixings within Diprose Chapel, a Grade II listed building forming part of the former St Clement Danes Holborn Estate Almshouses. The rood screen is a twentieth-century insertion and does not form part of the chapel’s original design, liturgical arrangement, or significant historic fabric. The proposed works are limited solely to its removal in order to improve the legibility of the chapel’s historic spatial hierarchy. The works comprise: • Careful hand dismantling of the non-historic rood screen. • Removal of associated modern fixings only. • Protection of adjacent historic masonry, floors, and finishes throughout. No alteration to historic masonry, structure, floors, ceilings, joinery, stained glass, or external elevations is proposed. No making good is proposed beyond the removal of fixings unless otherwise agreed through a separate consent. All works are internal, reversible, conservation-led, and confined to fabric of neutral or negative significance. No new use, reconfiguration, or replacement works form part of this application.
