52 Denton Gardens Ackworth Pontefract WF7 7PA

Sycamore tree G4 - request to fell for safety reasons. The reason I am requesting one tree be felled is due to safety concerns regarding my two young children (aged 5 and 3). Two significant branches measuring approximately 2 meters in length X diameter 30cm have fallen from the tree that could have had potentially fatal implications should my children have been playing out at the time. To reduce the risk to the children we have built a wooden gazebo over our hot tub to offer protection from falling branches however this does not offer any protection from the rest of the garden where the children play and which area is covered by the tree and its branches. The tree is located in my back garden which is a secured fenced garden and where the children play - they are unable to play in the front garden as this is not secure. I do not feel any mitigation's put in place could eliminate the risk of significant harm to my children hence my request. I did consult our local tree surgeon (who is aware of our trees as he had to fell one that was diseased) when the branches fell as I was concerned it could happen again and worried for the safety of my children. The tree surgeon visited my property who suggested I request the tree to be removed for safety reasons. I would be unable to replant a tree in the back garden to replace the one I am requesting be felled as we already have X2 huge trees in our back garden and one at the front of my property (all have TPO's). I do not feel there would not be any room to replant a replacement tree. In addition to this, replanting a tree could potentially result in the same safety concerns I have currently with regards to the possibility of falling branches in the area of the garden my children play.
