Sussex Square Brighton BN2 5AB

As Per Supplied Plan T4 - Tree 47 - Holm Oak Fell as close to ground level as possible. Holm Oak situated within busy private gardens of Kemptown Enclosures. The original agreed specifications were to reduce the crown. On the day of works it was noticed that there are 3 vertical splits on the main stem. Location of splits highlighted by red arrows. The timber within the splits is dry, suggesting that this was not too recent. The main stem is approximately 1.8m from ground to crown break with the longest of the splits (1) being 75% of the length, from crown break heading down. Splits 2 & 3 are approximately 45 to 50% of the length. With this being the case, the client and I agree that the tree poses too high a risk and needs to be removed. A heavy reduce, in this case, would not be a viable solution as would still pose too high a risk of failure. Plans for replanting are already in place.
