Garage adjacent 11 Orchards Way Southampton
Remove 5 of the trees. Two native hawthorn trees (6&7) and the holly and privet hedge will be retained. Privet (1) has grown beyond 4m high, but is largely dead wood and in need of removal. This would be replaced by smaller privet as part of the existing hedge. Two cherry laurels (2&3) have grown too large between the stream and the path and have large dead sections. It is not appropriate to replace these as there is no space between the stream and the path. Cherry laurel (4) appears to have self-seeded further downstream against the neighbouring garage, and is growing at a steep angle, likely affecting the stability of the bank and the neighbours garage. To prevent damage this needs to be removed and should not be replaced. Cherry laurel (5) has grown over 6m tall at the front of the garden, preventing light from reaching anything underneath. This will be replaced with a decorative tree more in keeping with the character of the estate.
