The Old Malthouse, Lower Wharf, Wallingford, Oxon, OX10 9ER
T1 - Sycamore T2 - Ash T3, 4, 5 - Leyland Cypress T6 - Sycamore T7 - Sycamore T8, 9, 10 - Sycamore T13 - Hazel T1 - Sycamore - this tree does not have good form with twin stems from 1 metre and included bark at the union. It is considered too dense and heavy in leaf for this location. Fell to ground level. T2 - Ash - this tree is also poorly formed and has suffered recent storm damage. It is not possible to correct its structural problems through pruning. Fell to ground level. T3, 4, 5 - Leyland Cypress - these trees are all becoming fairly large and are not considered a suitable species for retention in this old garden. Fell to ground level. T6 - Scyamore - this self set tree is very close to a boundary wall and gate. It is not in an appropriate place for retention. Fell to ground level. T7 - Sycamore - as with T6, this self set tree is just too close to the old boundary wall to be retained. T8, 9, 10 - Sycamore - these trees are all growing within what was designed to be a nut garden with coppiced Hazel and Walnut. They are the wrong species in the wrong place. Fell to ground level. T13 - Hazel - this neglected coppice is to be recoppiced as part of a longer term plan to restore the nut garden. The owners are aiming to restore this neglected garden with old and listed walls. This tree removal phase is the first step in the restoration process. The trees to be removed are all marked with paint on the main stems. Remarks:
