An apple tree in rear garden. An Apple tree in the rear garden half way down the strip garden on the left hand side. The tree is heavily leaning and has been supported with a timber and metal brace to keep it from falling. The tree is screened by neighbouring shrubs, a brick wall and a trellis and is not viewed from neighbouring properties or a dominant specimen to the garden. The tree, smallish in size 8ft-12ft has been heavy pruned previously and in my opinion has limited architectural merit. Whilst in the first instance we would seek to retain the tree and carry out a heavy reduction to the crown I would consider it likely that the tree is best removed and a new specimen planted.
