T3 – Silver Birch (Betula pendula) Carry out a light crown reduction and reshape. Works/removal: Shorten the upper crown by approximately 1.5 m and shorten overextended lateral branches by up to approximately 1.0 m, pruning back to suitable secondary growth points. Finished height: approximately 10.0 m. Finished crown spread: approximately 4.0 m overall. Retain a balanced, natural crown form. No topping or indiscriminate heading cuts. T4 – Cordyline (Cordyline australis) Remove the lowest hanging fronds together with all dead, dying and damaged fronds. Works/removal: Remove lower/dead fronds back cleanly to their point of attachment to the stem. No reduction to the main stems or overall height. Finished height: approximately 7.0 m. Finished crown spread: approximately 3.0 m overall. Retain the healthy upper crowns. T5 – Fig (Ficus carica) Crown reduce and reshape, concentrating on growth extending towards the dwelling and adjoining boundaries. Works/removal: Shorten overextended lateral growth by up to approximately 1.0–1.5 m, pruning back to suitable secondary growth points. Shorten the upper crown where required by up to approximately 0.5 m to produce a balanced crown. Finished height: approximately 4.5 m. Finished crown spread: approximately 3.5 m overall. Retain the main structural framework and encourage a more upright, balanced crown. General specification: All pruning shall be undertaken in accordance with BS3998:2010 – Recommendations for Tree Work. All cuts shall be made back to suitable growth points, retaining branch collars where applicable. No flush cutting, topping or unnecessary removal of healthy crown material. All arisings to be removed and the site left clean and tidy.
