Reasons: The tree displays symptoms of sooty bark disease, including areas of bark deterioration and visible bark staining/sooty material associated with affective sections of the stem. The Prescence of this disease can contribute to progressive decline and deterioration of the trees structural condition. Additionally, fungal fruiting bodies consistent with 'dead mans fingers' have been observed in the vicinity of the base of tree. Their presence may indicate fungal activity associated with decaying woody material and warrants consideration when assessing the condition of the root collar and lower stem. Replant with a Prunus Avium of an appropriate nursery grown size to coincide with other within the garden.
