Cricklade Avenue Lambeth SW2 3HF

We are looking to install a secure, low-profile bike store in our front garden. The main goal is to provide safe, level-access storage for a cargo bike, which is our primary mode of sustainable transport but is too large to fit down narrow side access, and too large and heavy to safely take through the house, to access storage in the rear garden. The design is intended to enhance the property through quality materials and construction, in a manner which is sympathetic the buildings and other front gardens on the street. We’ve been very careful with the design to make sure it doesn't take over the space: - Small Footprint: It uses 30.82% of the front garden area, leaving plenty of open space. - Low Profile: We’ve kept the height to the absolute minimum needed to fit the bike in safely. Other features of the proposed works: - Future proof: We propose adding power so both cargo bikes and a charging point for an electric car could be added in the future. - Eco-Friendly: Instead of a standard roof, we’re installing a biodiverse living roof filled with a mix of native plants, flowers, and small shrubs. This helps the shed blend into the garden and gives local bees and butterflies a bit of a boost. We are also installing an irrigation system that will maximise water efficiency and reduce waste water. - Smart Drainage: To keep things permeable, the roof captures rainwater, with any overflow going into a soakaway system hidden under the gravel behind the shed. This keeps all water on our land and off the street. - Improving / landscaping front garden as a whole: We are replacing old "crazy"-block paving with gravel to allow drainage, and re-laying paving from pavement up to front door, including using reclaimed bricks from a local supplier that are sympathetic to the original blue bullnose bricks used on the doorsteps / porch of the property.
