The first phase of projects within a Masterplan to improve access and security; to carry out essential services upgrades and repairs to the Listed Fabric. The Conservation Management Plan has been updated as part of the site-wide masterplan and Quinquennial Survey was last updated in early 2020. The first phase of work is to refurbish the Blore Building, the principal building within the Palace, dating from 1830. These are currently options under review for inclusion within this phase, including a new Energy Centre. As spaces are vacated by the books, media and supporting spaces that are being moved to the recently completed Library and Archive on the same site, future phases of work will be possible, within an overall decant plan.
