Removal of pre-cast concrete copings and like-for-like replacement to provide a sufficient drip detail to the entire length the parapet wall; installation of pre-cast concrete copings to the exposed brick between stacks; gentle removal of the render to the parapet wall and chimney stacks using a hammer and bolster with care to ensure the brickwork is unaffected when removing the render and removal of the render by hand in small sections in order to ensure the integrity of the brickwork; cleaning of the brickwork using water and a wire brush, removing any grime or soot and after inspection should the need arise repairs made to the brickwork, if the brickwork is unaffected the render to continue to be removed in the same fashion; any damaged brickwork to be cut out as necessary, either side of the fracture, one face only, new bricks to be stitched in, bed and pointed with a lime based mortar 1:3 (hydraulic lime: sharp sand); repointing where necessary by raking out existing joints of brickwork minimum 12mm deep, repointing in mortar and removal of spoil; renewal of lead flashing.
