Non material amendment to planning permission Ref: 532/APP/2018/3375 (Erection of a new 7 storey 7,685m2 learning and teaching centre (Use Class D1) with associated landscaping and access works, involving the demolition of the existing John Crank building) for the following alterations: -Minor amendments to the arrangement of some external and internal doors and windows; - A reduction in height of the 5th floor parapet (by 140mm) and the overall roof height (by 200mm); - The addition of a glass balustrade at the 5th floor terrace (400mm higher than the ceramic parapet height) in order to provide greater protection from falling; - A reduction in the extent of the plant so that it now covers one storey instead of two and a change in materials from acoustic louvres to metal perforated panels (the development of the heating and ventilation strategy results in a requirement for less plant space and no acoustic separation between the plant space and the exterior); - A change to the material of the fins for solar shading at windows from metal to ceramic in order to create a more seamless and consistent facade; - Internal rearrangements, minor amendments to the positioning of internal walls and doors and reallocation of some spaces (for example, the part of the plant room that is surplus to requirements is now proposed as teaching space); - Amendments to the 6th floor stair access to the roof (as a result of the amendments to the plant); and - A change to the ceramic panels at the lower level from a matt to a gloss finish in order to create a more tactile and maintainable finish at ground floor level.
