Kingsley Place Haringey N6 5EA

The installation of 20 x 460W solar panels on the flat roof of 14 Kingsley Place, together with the routing of external heat-pump pipework over the flat roof. # Heat Pump & Associated Pipework The proposed external pipework is required to connect the air-source heat pump, which will be sited at ground level at the rear of the property, to the internal hot-water cylinder located near the front entrance. The heat-pump unit itself will be located away from the public highway and screened by the existing boundary treatments to protect the visual amenity of the area. Due to the internal layout and concrete/solid construction of the property, there is no other practicable route to connect these two systems without causing substantial disruption to the internal fabric of the building. The external pipework has therefore been carefully routed across the flat roof surface between the proposed solar array rows, so as to minimise its visual prominence as far as practicable. Accordingly, the equipment has been sited and specified to minimise its effect on the external appearance of the building and on the amenity of the Conservation Area, while supporting the transition to renewable energy. # Solar Photovoltaic Panels The proposed solar array consists of 20 x 460W panels mounted on the flat roof on a low-profile mounting system. The panels would be angled at approximately 10 degrees and would sit approximately 35cm above the roof line at their peak. The panels are intentionally sited toward the front/southern section of the flat roof. Siting the array further back would impact its viability due to significant morning overshadowing from the adjacent mature tree canopy, which would reduce the system’s operational efficiency. The proposed installation will not require any pruning, cutting back, or structural works to the adjacent tree canopy. To ensure a recessive appearance within the roofscape and preserve the character and appearance of the Conservation Area, the installation will use a consistent dark, non-reflective finish: * All photovoltaic panels, frames, protective glass layers, rear backing sheets and junction boxes will be specified in a uniform matte black/dark tone to mitigate glint and glare. * The external edges of the grouped panel array will be fitted with matching black/dark flashings to integrate the structure visually with the existing flat roof surface and ensure a recessive profile.
