WithdrawnHGY/2026/1690Heat pump

Cholmeley Park Haringey N6 5FE

Lawful development: Proposed use. The proposed installation of an external air conditioning unit (reversible air source heat pump) constitutes a lawful alteration to this existing dwellinghouse as it meets all the permitted development criteria set out under Schedule 2, Part 14, Class G of the Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) (England) Order 2015 (as amended). While the property is situated within a designated Conservation Area, the development remains lawful under Class G as it complies with all relevant microgeneration and spatial restrictions: Highway Proximity: The outdoor unit is to be installed strictly on the side elevation of the property. It does not front a public highway, nor is it situated any closer to a bounding highway than the principal footprint of the existing dwellinghouse. Visual Amenity: Positioned on the side elevation, the unit is entirely obscured from the public road, ensuring the character and appearance of the Conservation Area are fully preserved. It is only partially visible from a private residential parking area. Scale & Specification: The outdoor compressor unit is less than 1.5 cubic metres in volume, is not located on a pitched roof, and represents the only such unit on the property. The system will be a reversible unit (providing both heating and cooling) and will comply with Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) planning standards. In the absence of an Article 4 Direction restricting Class G rights in this area, the proposed works constitute Permitted Development. Therefore, both the existing use and the proposed building alterations are entirely lawful, and a Lawful Development Certificate should be granted
