I understand that in 2020 the previous leaseholder changed the shop front to include a new door frame and a shutter which planning permission was not sought for. As a result of the hacking in your database it states that no action was taken however, on us taking over the lease on 12th May 2023 we received an enforcement notice about this pre existing issue. Whilst this issue precedes our time we are unable to utilise the space to open our new business until it is resolved hence this application. We are proposing to reinstate the shop front to what it was prior to the changes in 2020 (picture attached), with the exception of putting the door (that is on the left in the picture) on the right hand side. The purpose for this request is that it will create greater accessibility for customers with disabled access needs. It will also enable us to utilise the space as it was purchased with a food display counter at the front of the restaurant maximising the u\se of the internal restaurant space. We are also requesting permission to replace the existing shutter for safety purposes - without the shutter the exposure of the glass leaves us vulnerable to vandalism as we have witnessed by the new shop "wingz" a few doors down. In thinking about the sustainability and crime safe of our business we would like to instate a shutter that fits within the remit of the councils guidance for conservation areas. Shop front - We would also like to put a new sign out the front with the new business name on it Jerk Grill (example photo attached). I have been advised by the duty planning officer at Hackney council to include applying for Mixed use class E and Sui Generis as we would like to have a small offering of shisha available in the garden smoking area.
