Cecil Lodge Ealing Green Ealing W5 5QT

T1 Wild Privet (Ligustrum vulgare) Front garden boundary, directly wedged between the masonry front boundary wall and active underground drainage infrastructure. Fell to near ground level and chemically treat/grind stump to prevent vigorous basal and epicormic re-sprouting. Compromised Health & Poor Historic Tree Care: T1 exhibits poor physiological and structural condition following heavy, substandard heading cuts and blunt lopping carried out under previous ownership. This improper pruning has disrupted the natural canopy habit, resulting in dense, erratic epicormic water shoots with weak basal and branch attachments that are prone to tearing. Several historical flush cuts have failed to occlude properly, leaving exposed deadwood and areas of localized internal decay. The specimen cannot be pruned back to a balanced, viable, or structurally sound form. T2 Species: Holly (Ilex aquifolium) Front garden (marked as T2) Dismantle and fell 1no. Holly tree to ground level and replace with 1no. high-quality Magnolia specimen tree in an unconstrained location within the front garden. Comparison with Pruned Precedent vs. High-Value Replacement: A comparable Holly tree on the immediate neighbouring property has previously undergone heavy pruning/reduction to manage boundary conflicts. The resulting appearance is austere, unnatural, and visually discordant, highlighting how poorly mature Holly responds aesthetically to severe containment pruning. Applying a similar harsh pruning regime to T2 would significantly degrade the visual amenity of the front curtilage and street scene. Replacing the tree entirely with an ornamental Magnolia represents a vastly superior arboricultural and visual outcome compared to maintaining a harshly reduced, mutilated Holly. High-Quality Mitigation via Replacement Planting: To completely mitigate the removal and deliver an immediate net enhancement to local visual am
