Formation of two new external lightwells to serve the existing basement office space at Melrose House, 42 Dingwall Road, Croydon, CR0 2NE. The works comprise localised excavation to the rear of the property to form two lightwells at basement level, providing improved natural light and ventilation to the existing basement. Existing high-level basement grilles will be removed and replaced with new aluminium-framed doors and windows, designed to match the existing windows and doors in terms of appearance, proportions and colour. New brickwork forming the lightwells will match the existing building brickwork in colour, texture and detailing to ensure a consistent appearance. The proposal does not increase the existing basement floor area or alter the overall height, massing or principal form of the building. No trees are to be removed, with new planters proposed to the rear. One existing disabled parking space will be relocated to accommodate the lightwells, with disabled parking provision retained on site. Existing pedestrian access and refuse arrangements will remain unchanged.
