Copper Beech at the front of the property – Section fell to ground level. Reasons – The tree has shown early signs of decline for approximately 2 years now. This year the fruiting bodies of Meripulus Giganteus (Giant Polypore) have appeared at the base of the tree (See photos below). The tree may have suffered from the drought conditions which have been experienced over the past couple of years. This coupled with the very restricted root zone at the base may also have contributed to the decline (and resulting infection) of the tree. The trees position also makes it impractical to undertake any investigation works to assess the buttresses or main roots of the tree for decay. For the above reasons the removal of the tree is proposed.
