The roof works comprise of the following: • Renewal of Delabole slate roof finish to roof pitches (to be laid in dimishing courses to match existing), including replacement of battens/counter battens and breather membrane underlay • Stripping all areas of felt finish to flat roof areas and replacement with new Code 7 sandcast lead finish • Installation of 2No. roof access hatches and fall-arrest system • Sarking boards are to be reused where in good condition, with minor allowances for replacement • Installation of new insulation between rafters • Replacement of 2No. large roof lanterns to main roof • Replacement of 3No. small roof lanterns to lower west roof • Conservation repairs to the 2No. large, coloured glass laylights above the library spaces • Minor works to chimney stack • Stripping felt finish to lower west flat roof and replacement with new KEMPEROL roof finish • Minor repairs to rafters and joists where in poor condition • Raising north end of west party wall and installation of new stone copings • Refurbishment of existing rainwater goods and provision of new downpipes The lower flat roof to the southeast of the building, glazed canopy and external WC flat roof are excluded from the proposed works.
