Robert Street Camden NW1 3JP

A permanent, outdoor Community Mural on a 30 metre section of a large exterior wall on the ground/street level immediately below Woodhall Flats on Robert Street, NW1 3JP. The mural has been created by artist Olivia Twist in collaboration with members of the local community. The Community Mural is produced by Old Diorama Arts Centre as a permanent public artwork and is part of Camden Council-led public realm improvements to Regent’s Park Estate as part of the Safe & Healthy Streets initiative. The mural will reflect and include the communities of Regent’s Park Estate through their ideas, stories and memories. The mural design comprises a hand-painted colourful background and includes a lyric from a song from ' The Esperance Morris Book' by Mary Neal (Co-founder of the Esperance Club and Morris Dancers for women and girls who used to sing and dance in Cumberland Market) and nine x Dibond panels with illustrative designs based on the ideas and input from the community celebrating the cultures of food, local history and local stories. The panels are 3mm will have radius edges and will be mounted onto the wall, in between the text, using a screw at each corner and spacers. The panels will each have an anti-graffiti laminate to protect them and the hand-painted mural background will have an anti-graffiti glaze applied to protect it. The mural will completed be maintained for the first two years by Old Diorama Arts Centre as the commissioned producer for the project and after that time the mural will be under the care and upkeep of Camden Council as the landowner and commissioner for the project.
